Why does my computer take forever to boot with a network card

I just installed a Intel Pro 100 + Managment in my computer in anticapation of my cable internet that is going to be installed on Tuesday. I've installed all the drivers and such and everything seems to work fine. My problem is when I boot up. My computer seems to hang on the screens before I'm into windows. It normally take a minute or so but I don't think it's supposed to take that long. At work they use the same cards but it doesn't take windows more then 20 seconds to load. Is there something that I'm doing wrong. I have the cable from the card to my motherboard plugged in. Do I need to have that? I currently am running Win98se and am using a Amd 1.33 processor with a Iwill kk266 motherboard.

Help!

Check you network settings under the tcp/ip settings and see if it is set to obtain ip address automatically, it's probably looking for a dhcp server to get an ip address. Hard code an ip address, then it will not look for a dhcp server
