I didn't know where to put this (software vs. hardware) because I don't know the cause, but the problem is my clock in windows is often an hour off. The minutes and date are always right, but I keep having to set it an hour ahead. Right now it says its 5:39 am, but its really 6:39 am. It's not like I use the windows clock for anything critical, but it's annoying to look at my watch and find out that I should have stopped playing counterstrike an hour ago and started my homework ;).

My setup is (although I don't know if this would make any difference)
1.4 tbird (not overclocked)
pc-chips ECSK7AMA
512 pc133
sb live 5.1
300W ps
40gb WD 7200 rpm
52x Cd-rom, DVD, 12x burner
Windows 98se

I have no Idea why this is happening and I just think it's really odd that only the hour is messed up. Any light shed on this matter would be greatly appreciated. And btw, this only started happening about 2 weeks ago, and the clock has been fine since late august last year up until then.

You might want to check if you have daylight savings enabled.

Double click on the clock in the system tray.

Also your time zone can be the cause.

Widows defaults to western Pacific.

I have never seen it change on it's own. Did you install a time checker? Download.com has several atomic clock sync tools I would try that as well.

Why does your clock keep changing? Because if it didn't, you would just have a bunch of meaningless numbers taking up space in your system tray! :D (Okay, I know, but SOMEBODY had to say it!

Seriously though, I would check to see if you have an application on your system somewhere that is adjusting the time. I know this is totally different, but I have a TV that has the ability to set the time automatically from the time issued by certain TV channels. (PBS usually does it) I left my TV on Auto, started channel surfing, and passed a channel that changed my time on me. I didn't realize it, but it set it an hour off. Of course, I finally decided to watch a movie or football or something to kill time until somehting else I wanted watch came on. I set the display to show the clock on the screen while I waited...and of course...I missed the other show. I quickly found the problem, and now I set the time manually. You may have somehting on your system that is doing the same thing. It also could be something related to your system's date. If you DO have a program that automatically sets your time/date, the problem may be that the date is resetting (check your CMOS battery) with something reseting your date. You system picks up the problem, and corrects it, but windows is detecting it and changing it according to DST.

Try changing the time in the BIOS and NOT in Windows. It might make a difference.
