Just built a new box with an Asus K8N-E Deluxe board, AMD 64 3000, 1 GB Geil PC 3200 RAM, WD Raptor 76GB SATA HDD. Now my problem, when comparing this thing to one of my older machines running an Epox 8RDA3+ and Athlon XP 2500 and 1 GB Ram with an IDE HDD there seems to be very little difference in performance, I don?t game but after all the reviews and claims I saw about this board and HDD I thought there should be a noticeable improvement in performance, about the only thing that ?seems? faster is the OS booting times. Maybe I need to do some tweaking which I haven?t done yet I was wanting to see what is recommended and what drivers are recommended for this setup and in what order do you guys install them, FWIW I have always seemed to have problems with Nforce chipset boards, I know they are supposed to be fast but this one just doesn?t seem so in comparison, also the BIOS settings may need to be changed so whatever you guys recommend there too let me know, I don?t want to overclock this box though, I just want it to be as fact as I think it should be, LMK what you think.

Forgot to add that I have the same video card in both systems, an ATI Radeon 9200 128MB.

Well, did you run any benchmarks ? The two are noticably faster in some games, and other cpu intensive tasks, and the Athlon64 seems much smotther in multitasking, but other than that, you may not notice much difference. That old system was not bad for most things.

if its gaming your not noticing a diff in, its the 9200.. weak card, especially when paired with that monster system

I haven't run any benchmarks yet, my first impressions are just a "set of the pants" feel that I am dissapointed in, mainily this systems is for multitasking, TV watching, PVR, video encoding and similar, also I do NO gaming with the system so video card shouldn't be am issue. Just kinda thgought there may be some driver issues or settings that I needed to know about.

Second that. That card is a bottleneck with that system.

sorry robisc, posted before I saw your last post. In that case, you really won't notice much of a difference for what you're doing. Gaming is where the A64 really shines.
