Why does my Athlon 600 (classic) smoke my Duron 650 in RC5?

Dammit 🙂

I guess there's a lot of instructions for computing the keys or something, since obviously more ram doesn't help (192 vs 128), Faster running ram doesn't help (133 vs 100), and a newer MB doesn't seem to be doing much.

What kind of computations is the OGR? I set the Duron for that since I might as well if my Athlon is going to kick it up and down the block. It's not that big of a difference, 2.14 vs 1.9 keyrates, but it's 50mhz faster, I'd at least think it would win.

The duron should defineltly be faster. Are they both running the same version of the client? the lastest client 463b has an core that is optimized for athlons. Are they both in similar configurations? If the duron has a bunch of cr@p loaded, that could cause the duron to run slower also.

The duron should = the athlon on a clock 4 clock basis. something is not right on your system. My moms does 2.3 mkeys on hers, and my brothers o'lcok duron does a cool 3.1mkeys

They're both pretty fresh installations. I try to keep things to a minimum. Maybe it's that damn winamp agent again.

I believe I'm using the latest client. It says k7-3 core, k7-2 for my .18 Athlon.

Other than running 2 NIC's, I don't see what would be sucking up CPU cycles.
