When I first boot-up the monior comes on like normal and then after POST and windows begins loading it flickers or resets just before it displays the desktop. Why oh why??

I just installed a matrox G450 dual display so maybe it may be related to this? I hope someone has seen this before!!

It is probably normal; at that point Matrox Desktop utility kicks in, and adjusts the card drivers.

Matrox Desktop is installed during the card configuration, and gets started during startup, every time you boot your computer.

It is because the Windows start up screen defaults to the lowest resolution 640 x 480 at 60Hz. They do this to make certain that ALL monitors will at least show this screen. Many people still have older 14 and 15 monitors that are not capable of higher resolutions and refresh rates.

It is more like ALL VIDEOCARD supports 640x486 at 60Hz using a basic video card driver. When that screen is loading, your video card driver isnt loaded yet.
