Why does Max Pane keep kicking me back to the desktop?

3dmark20001 will run for hours, but Max Payne won't even start up?


Any ideas?

It used to kick me back to the desktop when I had everything on max detail, but it works fine when I set everything to medium..weird.

I reset everything to "low" and it still won't start up.

has it EVER worked? maybe you have the wrong display adapter selected. have you installed new detonators recently? try either going back to older ones or d/l the new ones (whicever situation u find ureself in). maybe try to go from direct3d to opengl or whatever.

I had this problem on one computer before I installed the no-cd fix. It worked fine on the other though.

There is a patch for the game here. It should fix the kick-back-to-desktop-problem. Hope this helps.

the patch only helps for GF3 and W2k

It works fine on my GF2 and XP, but not on my GF3 XP machine.

I'll try the patch and see if it helps.

I had this problem also when saving with certain "save game slots" worked fine otherwise.
