Why does Liveupdate for Sierra Products (Half-Life) lock my rig?

Crap. I want to play this Western Mod and folks have advised me to reinstall HL. I did that. When I try to do the autoupdate thing, via the built in updater, it DL's about 5 meg or so..slowing down bad the whole time, then my machine hard locks. It's not a prob w/my rig. Trust me, I'd know...my CPU temp when it locked up was 32C for cryin' out loud.

What to do?

cause you are a n00b, and Sierra hates you, and more specifically your computer. They gave it a virus, and it will blow up in a day..

Other than that, I have no clue...

You are a sick and twisted person...and I like that, I really do. I'm not a noob. I just want my damn HL updates...sometime in this lifetime! Reformat...<chuckles> I have about 52GB of info on my RAID 0 array...reformatting is not something I want to do anytime soon. Yes, I have plenty of backups...but not of HL updates.

try updating the live update. Or something is wrong with your windows install, or it can be a conflicting application. Try shuting down all programs to a minamum.

ROFL, you just shot yourself in the foot

Any expirienced person would not dare store any important info on a <chuckes> RAID 0 array. Unless of course, that data is worthless or pr0n; probably the latter.

BTW, head to thegamebox.net>games>halflife>? for DOWNLOADABLE patches for HL that can be kept amougst your 52GB of data so you never need to deal with that dirty little update prog again!

Shot myself? I think not. I've been carrying various guns (legally) for the past 9 years. Never shot myself. Also, my "porn" happens to be mostly games and pictures of my family and possessions (for insurance purposes) the important stuff is on CDRs. 14 of them. Everything else, I own the CDR for.

My GF takes care of the rest. Now please, grab you left foot with your right hand. Got it? Good. Now, insert it into that gaping hole you call a mouth. Swallow. Thanks for the linky suggestion though.

i never use sierra autoupdate, it always breaks when it tries to update itself. just go to planethalflife.com and download the latest updates from there
