Why does it take so long for BF4 to load?

When I click a server it's like 4 min before I can play. When I leave a server, it's like 30 sec. before I can even get back to the server page.

Is it because I don't have a SSD or because my VC only has 1GB memory?

4 mins is a really long time. Even when I had my old spinner drive it was only like 1 minute or so.

I am actually surprised you can play the game with only 1GB of vram.

What I would do is load up something like Afterburner, detach the graph, and then join a server. Once you join tab out back to afterburner and look down at the graphs. Are you CPUs mostly idle, is your vram maxed out, etc.

The other thing you can do is the same thing as above but with resource monitor open on the storage tab. See what the drive utilization is at, and what the disk queue is at. If the queue gets over 0.01, its starting to fall behind. If it hits 1.0, its falling significantly behind.

Thanks. The game plays flawlessly at my resolution with 1GB of Vram.

I just timed it, from the time I click "join server" it's 3min till I can spawn, not 4min. Seems like 10min when your waiting to play.

CPUID say's my cpu is running at 4ghz. Although I believe it turbo's to 4.6ghz.

Like I said the game plays flawlessly, it's just the loading times are unreal.

Seems like normal HDD load time for BF4 to me. An SSD is a night/day difference in load time on that game, but I'm sure you know this already in principle.

Yeah that's pretty normal. Before I got my SSD, it was a few minutes loading before I could play.

I would give you how long it takes now with my SSD, but it would be just a guess. If I can remember, I'll time it later tonight when I'm home.

As to the reason it does, I dunno. No game I've played takes THAT long to load, and it's not like Battlefield 4 looks spectacular while all these other games look like trash.

I'll post the results from my SSD load time tonight as well to see how it compares to Clamum.

36 seconds from the time the bf4 icon appears in your taskbar to ready to play.

Finally remembered to time it :). It took 34 seconds to load, from the time Battlefield 4 appeared in the taskbar to the time the select class/spawn screen came up. I have a Core i5 750, Radeon 7870, and 8 GB RAM (with the Crucial BX100 500 GB SSD, running Windows 8.1).

You really need an SSD for this game.

I've played it on both and the SSD is a FRACTION of the load time.

BRING IT! :awe:
Timed mine at 32 seconds. :D

I knew it had to be pretty quick because I am nearly always the first one in to hit the ready up button. I liked it better before there was a ready up, when I had my choice of vehicles and could be across the map before most people even had it loaded. LOL
