Why does it take me forever to load web pages?

Whenever I use either mozilla firefox or internet explorer, it takes me forever to load web pages (if at all) - even ones I have been to before.

This started happening about 2 weeks ago but it has annoyed me to the point where I think it is a real problem.

The lucky times I can actually search for "bandwidth test" on google, it says my bandwidth is ~4000 kbps down.

I have ~20 GB free space on my hard drive. Sometimes the website loads extremely fast and then I could go back to it 5 seconds later and try to load it and it would time out.

I downloaded a game demo recently and the speed it was downloading at was 450 KB/sec.

I don't know what the problem is, please help.

THANKS

May want to check for Spyware/Malware for starters.

If you have a Router or Cable modem you may need to power cycle them. I had an issue with my Cable modem that whenever we had a power outage I would get strange behavior like you're describing until I power cycled everything.
