Why does it seem...

Why does it seem like everytime I have roommates there is some underlying hatred for one of them that isn't exposed until a week after I move in? Granted when this has happened the hatred has been justified, but why does one douche always have to live in a house?

This time it is a guy that is worse than a know-it-all. He kind of keeps it to himself, more disregarding your opinion on anything rather than offering his own. We had an argument over politics the other night and he started a response with "You know I've read a lot of books, learned a lot about history, spent a lot of time studying this in school, and..."

Yea buddy. Like I have never read a book. His response was forgettable and the beef of it was basically that statement. Then he'd sit in silence and come out trying to summarize my argument sarcastically, except his summary was completely false and I'd call him on it. Then he'd roll his eyes and keep to himself while the adults talked.

Another time we were discussing TV shows and he went on about how the West Wing was so great. I kept my thoughts to myself on that one out of politeness, and mentioned how I liked My Name is Earl. Apparently that is too low-brow for him and I got a "Mmm..yea..." response before he continued on about how great a president Martin Sheen is.

Yes, I know where MySpace is. I just thought I'd rant here instead.

Oh wait I forgot the best part..

while we were discussing politics, two of the other people there started talking amongst themselves about one of the points one of us had made. Then he wanted to make his point and instead of just speaking up like a normal person does, he said he'd wait until they were done talking and started whistling to get their attention. They ignored him and continued until he yelled out "ITS MY BIRTHDAY AND I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY." I honestly do not know if he was joking, he gave a slight smirk but with this guy I wouldn't be surprised if he was serious.

Living with people can be awkward. The usual cause is that someone is too far into your space, face, or comfort zone.

I lived with 5 guys.

fun time LOFL

<---engineering student that used to live with liberal arts majors...I remember once...the night before a test...good times

LOFl..so many fights

I get along with the other guys fine. Same in the other places I've lived. But there is always one person that is so ridiculously hard to live with. I usually defend them because I don't like picking on someone, but then the reason they are hated shows and I can't help it. Maybe some people just like filling that role.
