think about it.
There is one manufacturers that sells ALi chipsets, which is Iwill, hardly a big company, few people own these boards. And there hasn't been a new release from them in a while.

The AMD chipset is old, and AMD stopped making it, but it never really had problems.

The SiS chipset only had one board for a while, ECS sucks, and there were record numbers of complaints about that board.

VIA has released over half a dozen athlon chipsets supported by all companies. Their boards are everywhere.

People in this forum are massively biased. Something goes wrong with SiS or ALi, and nobody remembers. Something bad happens with VIA, they will have to live up to it for a year.

What's even more impressive than ddb's paragraph is that st4rcutter actually read it, and that AZ considers himself unbiased;)

All chipsets and mobos built with them have issues of some sort, and yes the Intel 440BX is known as the best chipset ever. All the current ones are very competitive, and really all you need to do is look at the price and features and choose what suits your needs and budget best.

DashK are you basing your views on online posts about people looking for help or posting crap about the boards they have (or don't), cause if you're than your not realizing that the majority of happy owners don't post about it. You ever here the term "silent majority"?

Almost missed that Iwill line, LOL, the Iwill XP333/XP333-R is one of the newest boards available.

6+ Athlon VIA chipsets, I guess you're counting the KT333 and assuming they'll need a KT333a revision. I'm using a VIA mobo right now and don't overly hate VIA. I know you're trying to make a point, but you're not gonna convince anyone smart without providing any factual info.

Thats the thing, most of them are stable. I can tell you that my EPoX 8KHA+ is rock solid, the only problems I've had are OS related (98se) but running Linux and 2k/XP it is fine. I also know a few people that are running KT266A based boards (Soyo, MSI) and they are having no problems either. And then I know one guy who has a AMD 761 based board (forget what brand) and he is having all sorts of problems that none of us have had.
