Why does it seem everyone is recommending Corsair Value Select recently?

Is this particuarly synergistic with Athlon 64 mobos?

And are all Corsair Value Select dimms the same or do they use various chip manufacturers?

well the price factor, because its really cheap for a corsair
if you are lucky it overclocks very well too

the XLPT series cost almost double as compared to Value Select.
and they perform great for 1/2 a price at cas 2.5

I'm not sure what chips they use, but I always recommend it because it's an easy reference to some good RAM from a good manufacturer and it's in my system.

What chips does the Corsair Value Select use?

And is this particulary good for Athlon 64? If so, Via or Nforce4 or other?

And is the recommendation for a particular speed rating?

There are a lot of consumer reviews for the 1 x 512 MB PC3200 stick.

Is this the one everyone is referring to?

Also, do they sell a dual channel kit or is everyone just using two unmatched 512 MB sticks?

Cheap and reliable. Not to mention that expensive ram won't give you a huge performance boost with an Athlon64.

Cheap! reliable and good performing. I saw a 1GB set at newegg for under $100 today! Compare that to the OCZ plat rev 2 (>$200). that is 100% more money for 1-2% higher FPs in HL2. Not really worth it...

I reccomend twinmoss, runs much tighter that rated timing wise, with no voltage tweeks either!! ( well winbond based stuff does anyway )

Are the glowing recommendations primarily for Athlon64?

If so, for all chipsets (Via, Nforce3, or Nforce4) and a particular one?

Yeah but you could say that about anything. It's the products that MANY people are having bad experiences with that make the product less then subpar.

they charge shipping though, so its still over 100,
zipzoomfly is marginally cheaper :)

I'm with you. I've used some of their VS DIMMs with SpecTek chips on them. No more Corsair VS for me.
I'll use the real stuff or go with another brand.

I've seen you attempting to spread this "Corsair uses SpecTek chips" rumor for a while.

I build a lot of systems and go thru a lot of Corsair Value Ram and have yet to see one with a "SpecTek" marking on the memory chips.

Corsair is a premium brand of RAM. SpecTek is crap, I will give you that... but again, I have never seen a Corsair stick with Spectek markings on it. Maybe you shouldn't shop for computer parts at the flea market?

I want to see a picture of Corsair memory with SpecTek chips on them.
