Why does it say NTLDR missing when I have the Iomega Zip Drive installed in the USB?

Its so retarded, when I boot up the computer with the zip drive usb plugged in the usb port, it says NTDLR missing and it tells me to restart. How do I avoid this?

It's a problem with ZIP drives in general. They like to take over the IDE0 channel, so when the bootloader tries to load the OS, it is looking in what it thinks is the right spot, but because the ZIP drive has taken over, it is actually the wrong spot (NTLDR is located on the %SYSTEMDRIVE% partition). There is a fix out there, but I don't have the link off hand.

go into your bios and set your boot device to whatever IDE channel your hard drive occupies with the zip drive installed

This happened to my friend who had a compactflash USB reader plugged in while turning on his system. He thought his windows was messed up. I think you just have to remove it when your computer starts up.

Yeah I figure I would have to remove it when I start up the computer. That is so retarded, why the hell does that have to happen? Don't people realize that this crap would come up and find a way to fix it? If I knew some crap like NTDLR is gonna be missing for no freaking reason, I wouldn't of bought it. It must just be nforce 2 mobos that have this problem eh?

not sure about your unique situation, but does it help to change the boot order? Putting your ATA controller to boot first might help.
