Why does Internet Explorer have more security holes than swiss cheese?

Just curious.

Version after version, IE constantly provides doors to online exploitations.

Because it is the most popular browser, it is the most likely to be searched for bugs.

Aside from that, support from its users isn't as good as with Mozilla and company.

I'm sure the open source browsers have their share of bugs, but it's safe to say that most people who use mozilla are probably smart enough to protect themselves from being the subject of lame exploits anyhow.

If you look at the MS security updates and the bugs that someone found, it is usually very off the wall things that really don't make IE THAT vunerable.

In terms of spyware... why would you design spyware for anything but the roughly 90% of people that use the same browser?

Because it is the most mainstream internet browser. Same thing would happen to mozilla if it were number 1.

Because the developers at Microsoft can't program their way out of a paper bag.

Faulty logic. For example, compare Apache vs. IIS.

simple.. there are more people looking to exploit IE than any other browser. Same reason why Windows gets all the attention. Have you seen the list of Linux (all flavors) patches on a weekly basis ? It's scary. 3:1 ratio compared to Windows... sometimes more.

Exactly, why do you think there are VERY few viruses for MacOS, or OS/2 for that matter? Is it because they don't have potential flaws or security holes? No, it's because people just aren't interested in trying to exploit them.

Because while swiss cheese is full of holes created by gas bubbles in it while it was being made, it actually does not have any security holes.
Therefore all browsers have more security holes than swiss cheese.

Everyone knows Windows is a virus with mouse support, and as we know, IE is part of it. George Carlin should expand his list of oxymorons (jumbo shrimp, military intelligence, etc.) to include Microsoft Works. :p

 That was sarcastic, right?

Only partly. Perhaps it should have read: "Because the IE developers at Microsoft can't program their way out of a paper bag."

Having THIS many security holes, including remote root exploits, in a freakin' web browser is inexcusable.

Honestly I dont know what that is. But I still dont see where my logic is faulty.

1) Most popular browser
2) You don't have to be proactive when you're on top.
