Recently I developed a liking to "Short Films" which are YouTube videos less then 15 minutes long about social issues such as bullying, racism, suicide and such.

And one thing I noticed was that every time I search for a new Short Film HALF of my search results would be filled with videos made by people from India....At first I just thought "whatever" I guess India is just a big fan of Short Films.

But then I started to pay attention to the thumbnails, titles, and descriptions of the videos and I noticed something very disturbing...

EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THE VIDEOS ARE ABOUT SEX!!

Even more disturbing is that 60% of them are about incest....the other 40% are about rape and affairs. :\

Is this the only thing people from India can think about when making a film?

The link below is a simple YouTube search of the words "Short Film" and if you scroll down the videos you will see what I mean.

I dont know about incest but I do know that rape is a serious problem with India. Its almost as bad per capita as South Africa.

You sorted by view count so that says more about what youtubers are watching. As long as people are watching those films they will keep making them.

short films are often an instrument to expose social issues. And one of the biggest social issues in India is lack of respect for women.

So I don't think it's weird.

I just watched a documentary on the way women are hated even by other women in india. A father doesn't want a girl because he raises her then has to give a large gift along with her away when shes married. They're whole lives they just take food and money then have to be given away. Where men stay a part of the family and have to contribute. Most can't afford girls for this reason so even their own mothers will smother a girl when its born or just not feed them. Pretty fucked up can't remember what its called.

I've never witnessed incest in my life and I live in Los Angeles, the most "Sexually Deviant" city in the country.

It's called a dowry and it (tradition) is as BS as religious beliefs requiring this and that.

Parents hate it, yet the tradition carries on with offspring for what reason? Pure stupidity if you ask me. Giving gifts for the wrong reasons.
