Why does IE sometimes goto 99% CPU utilization?

I have the latest version of IE6 w/all the patches.

sometimes it goes to 99% util, and i have to end the process, which kills all the open IE windows i have 🙁

what causes the 99% and how can i fix it?

IMO opinion it's improper/poor webpage coding or just IE's inability to handle some pages. I see this ever once in a while. I also see IE using up tons and tons of memory on some sites.
