Why does HP have a cutting edge rig for sale at Best Buy?

just wondering if anyone knows why they have all this out before any other vendors..?? Due to future proofing or are they ASSUMING all of this will take off?

So they can tell customers that it is their only option if they want to play solitaire with decent performance 🙂

The overwhelming majority of people who buy complete PC's do not upgrade their pc's. So, SATA vs IDE (etc.) is irrelevant to them.

I didn't think there was really a question about if it would take off either. SATA is hardly "brand new" now, and PCI-express is not a question of if it's going to be used - it's merely a time transitioning over to it. I would say it's a good idea to sell a top end machine that uses all of that. It would make future upgrades (if they eventually upgrade) much easier.

Apparently, someone who knows something about the market believes it will sell. I see nothing at all strange about it. If it sells, then - why not? That's what it is all about - sales. And if you have a "gotcha" that the competition does not have on the same shelf, sales are likely. It really depends on whether or not it is perceived as good value. H-P is being very aggressive in other marketing areas as well - particularly in notebooks.
