well guys why do these show up in Device Manager even though I do not have a floppy drive installed?...I'm running Win2k and absolutely have no idea why this is showing up ...it would make sense if I had a floppy drive installed...but that is not the case here....

Any pointers? I know removing it makes no diff. but I just want to know why it is there

There's still a controller for the floppy built into the motherboard - the OS recognizes that whether or not you install a drive to go with it.

Disable the floppy drive controller in the BIOS, and it will dissapear from the device manager.
