Why does firefox take so long to save a file?

So as many of you know sometimes it takes 30 seconds or more before the "OK" button is highlighted in firefox so that you can save a file. I don't know if it's waiting to do a virus scan or what. Is there any way to circumvent this wait time?

Use right click and "save target as" instead of just clicking on a link will solve that.
