Why does everything have a car analogy?

When explaining technical details you always say something like "Oh, 128-bit is like adding more lanes to a highway" or "The CPU is like the engine of your car" or "They're like the Mercedes-Benz of computer manufacturers."

Analogies are always cars. It's always cars. Nothing else.

Its one of the few things that most people understand at a basic level. If we were all nuclear physicists, then an analogy might be something like, "128 bit is like adding electrons to the nucleus thing and then binding it so it gets bigger..."
See how stupid that sounded? I'll stick to car analogies.

why are trees green? Why is the sky blue?

Trees are not green. The sky is not blue. Those are frequencies. Color is something your brain does to try and make sense of those frequencies. My man parts are also not green or blue.

Why is the sky blue?

The reason the sky is blue has to do with a situation like when you're driving down the highway and you get two of your wheels off the asphalt and so your car wants to turn and get off the road even more.

edit: I don't have time to finish this, but really, this is a stupidly easy one. In fact, the car analogy is one of the most often used explanations for refraction.

Oh, Jesus Christ. Really?

That's one hell of a question with no answer so far.

because almost everyone owns one and definitely rides in one and most people are stupid so they need to see things in ways they understand. Metaphors are hard when your genetically challenged.

The car analogy works for doctors and lawyers, not just for stupid people. Doctors don't understand the electron spin adding that makes it bigger like the 128 bit nuclear highway.

Oh, Jesus Christ. Really?

Not really Rayleigh scattering isn't really refraction ;) but people commonly are mistaken and think it is refraction, and refraction has an easy car analogy so I cheated.

If you can't understand why, then your brain clearly isn't firing on all cylinders.

Because analogies are like cars: everyone uses them but most people don't use them properly.

AHAHAHHA take that ---- OP! You can ask a (silly) question on ATOT, but you better hold on tight when the rubber meets the road, boy!

I'm going to start using cooking analogies or situations involving the humanities.

Going from 64-bit to 128-bit is like using two straws to drink your milkshake!

Tigers are like Reliant Robins. They're really stupid and poorly conceived. Pretty much the worst examples of their respective groups.

Hey, if you can't find something relatable to explain a complex system, people are going to be stuck in 1st gear.
