Why does everything freeze up few mins when involves 2 cdrom drives?

I noticed this for awhile now. Usually does not start to be problem until few weeks after new format but I just format today and this time it already doing it. Anything to do with access of cdrom, yamaha cdr drive like my computer, windows explorer, etc whole pc freezes up to 2mins like to find them, you then hear them speed up, lights flash and then your okay for awhile.. Annoying.

any help appreciated. thank you
