The problem is too many people either don't remember appeasement, or they didn't learn it in school. History DOES repeat itself if you do not learn from the mistakes of the past. I'm surprised the french are so opposed to this, it seems to me the french most of all should realize the dangers of appeasement, after all the last time it came up, half a million nazi's were marching down the Champs E'lysee....

I am in the process of drawing up my own list of demands that must be met by the Iraqis to avoid war.
Fair enough... Just deploy 200,000 soldiers to the Middle East with the ability to invade Iraq and you can do so.

:D

Doesnt that pretty much give N Korea a blank check to attack whomever it wants then?
No, because North Korea lacks the ability to deploy them anywhere other than to South Korea.

They of course can attack South Korea, but we might have something to say about it then.

If N Korea could only threaten S Korea, I would feel much better about today's international climate.
If we hold out a few more years and let them perfect the missile defense shield, Korea will be SOL in terms of a pre-emptive strike against the US

It will always be easier to sneak in a nuclear device over the border. I think a missile defense will be needed and eventually we surely will have one to protect spots of major economic (and government) importance. I don't see NK doing this directly unless we continue to give them reason to attack us. We're probably past that point already. "Tough love" foreign policy sometimes bites you back.

Tough love, but yet we are still feeding them at tax payers expense.
