What's with all the hating posts lately? People in need of more attention due to stress at school or something?

"Why does everybody like <such and such> so much? I can't stand them and everyone is wrong for not thinking like me!"

As a rule, if you think you're right and the world is all wrong, it's you that generally has the problem.

Depends...do you like me?

I don't dislike you. I don't even know you so I don't really have an opinion of you since my advisors haven't advised me of you. I do like the sky its so pretty just before sun down ---- practicing to be a delegate for Team Obama.

Isn't there a term for justifying one's views/preferences by citing the supposedly vast numbers of like-minded people? Does the fact that the often-ignorant masses flock to some things actually improve the quality of said things? I used to think like that too, but I've discovered far too many exceptions to continue using it as a rule.

Yes, idiocy. Just because you can find 10 people who believe that 1+1 = 5 doesn't make it right.

That's a simplisitic example. When you have 200+ million people that have seen a movie, and most of them loved it, then someone comes along and says "I can't understand why people would like that movie. It's stupid, and so is anyone that likes it." then the person is basically saying "My tastes are different than nearly everybody else's, and everyone is wrong for not being like me."

Actually you guys are both comparing different things and are both correct. Gaghalfrunt is discussion people who contradicts facts. 1+1 = 5 is incorrect, if 10 people say it is correct, it is still incorrect.

You are comparing opinions on a subject, which is widly different than disagreeing a fact. "The movie was good, the movie was bad" are both opinions and are not based on fact at all, even if you give supporting reasons for your choice, it is still an opinion.

I don't like brahs. My dorm has quite a few of them. Does that mean they're right and I'm wrong? Last night some friends and I were outside and some brahs came up..."Hey brah, let's freestyle!" ...Jesus help me.
