Why does everyone hate Wesley Crusher so much?

I never understood what people held against him? What's the big deal and why does everyone think he's such a douche?

i guess it's cos he's just a goody two-shoes, and even though i loved the other characters so much more, he was made out to be that up and coming, moral starfleet officer, who will one day make an awesome captain. in him, captain picard sees his own youth.

damn i love it.

He's a pansy ass little wimp who knows too much for his own good, that's why.

You're kidding right? Maybe as an idealized version of his youth, because Picard was a kick-ass, brash, woman-hungry little bastard as a young'un. Nothing like staid Wesley, who I liked as well.

Wil Wheaton shouldn't be blamed, of course.

He's a geek like us, plus he was AWESOME in Stand By Me.

He's the "Bumblebee" of Star Trek, to put it in Transformers terms. In the immortal words of Maddox:

"Bumblebee's sole purpose in the show was to run around and shove his fist up people's asses while their backs were turned. Maybe that wasn't his goal verbatim, but the fact remains: nobody knew what Bumblebee's real purpose was other than getting in the way of the most badass Transformer ever (next to Unicron): Star Scream. "

And there it is.

Remember in the 2nd season or so when Wesley first became an ensign? He wore that rainbow colored belt thingy around his waist. I can't use the word here to describe that, but I think you all know what it means!

I loved it when Captain Picard kicked him off the bridge in the first season. Picard hated Wesley. Probably had something to do with him killing Wesley's dad; some kind of latent emotions that he couldn't control.

I like this question from his FAQ
I bought the DVD, and you're not on it! You're not even in the fullscreen version!

Well what the hell are you doing buying a fullscreen version of anything?

Because he was always referred to in the early days as "the boy".
Because he wore that heterosexually-challenged jumpsuit with the rainbow.
Because he was a goody-two-shoes.

Once he began wearing the standard red jumpsuit, I thought he was alright.

Because all the characters on TNG were magnificently dark and brooding like they all had unspeakable pasts. Then in walks this doe-eyed innocent to give his insight into things.

I didn't mind him too much. Some of the episodes he was in were stupid (the whole 'traveler' bit) but it wasn't enough to make me hate him. He had some good episodes too. I liked the one where he was a stunt pilot at the academy. One of his wingmen was the same guy who played Tom Paris from Voyager. Does anyone know if this was supposed to be the same character, or was it just the same actor?

His website is funny (read: sad) as hell. I laughed at the pathetic stuff he wrote when his part got cut from Nemesis.

Same character IIRC.

The guy who played Tuvok appeared in Generations, I think, as a human.
