Why does CTRL-F not work on some sites (like Reddit)

On Reddit, I can't CTRL-F to find anything.

Here's an image with it entirely greyed out on Reddit:

Here's an image of it working normally on google search:

What would cause this? It also doesn't work on Eurogamer.com, or Gearslutz.com, or a few of the other sites I visit.

It works just fine for me on all of those sites in all three browsers I tried (Firefox, Chrome, and IE). Have you tried in a different browser on the same computer? If it does not work in Chrome then I'd suspect an add-on is misbehaving (or specifically designed to do that for some reason).

Are you blocking scripts?

I know that if you use IE to browse Newegg, you can't right-click on a product title in their index listing and select "open in new tab" - they disable that menu option using scripts.

I assume that the lack of CTRL+F functionality is similar. Use Firefox / Waterfox and NoScript. I'm sure that you'll have your page-search capabilities back in no time.

Strange. I wonder if AdBlock is doing something with scripts besides just blocking ads, because "open in new tab" also works just fine on NewEgg in IE for me..

I do not use I.E. but I just allowed it to express setup, and the search box pops up right under the address bar, when on reddit.

Both your's and Larry's issues must be config or add on related. As I was also able to use the open in new tab on newegg using I.E.11.

I use IE11, and once I hit CTRL F, it pops up a FIND/SEARCH bar under the Links bar, and it stays there. Then to REDDIT site, it works finding a word or words (according to selected options) in REDDIT. Basically, the same result as DAPUNISHER.
