Why does CNN promote so much news on Trump compared to Fox News?

When I goto Fox News, I always see mostly articles shinning a negative light on Obama and Hillary but rarely anything good or bad on Trump. On CNN they promote Trump stories like he's a democrat. Does CNN forecast a Trump nomination for RNC a sure win for Clinton?

Isn't it fairly obvious? CNN likes to report the worst of the opposition would be my guess.

Nonsense. CNN wants ratings. Trump's bombast and inflammatory rhetoric is fantastic for ratings. Fox, in contrast, is focused on supporting the GOP party line. i.e., not Trump.

The question is why does FoxNews report on him less, not why does CNN report on him more. Trump sells newspapers and hits on websites because he is controversial and controversy sells. That is why CNN has loads of Trump coverage. But FoxNews' business model is predicated on appealing to conservative readers and viewers, and Trump isn't that great for conservatives and especially the republican party right now, mainly because he is threatening to essentially hand the presidency over to Hilary Clinton. Any press coverage helps Trump. All the coverage on CNN and elsewhere has only caused him to rise in the primary polls. FoxNews is probably not interested in helping Trump because they and their readers actually want the GOP to win the presidency next November.

Edit: once again, I made essentially the same argument as Bowfinger who apparently beat me to the punch. :)

I am so sick of CNN MSN and I dont watch fox. Well thats a lie I watch O Riley to watch him make an imbecile out of himself. All he does is blame Obama for everything non stop and his guest like Krauthammer just the same drolling parrots.

Now I watch Al Jazeera as much as I can.

And Bowfinger is correct.

Fox News initially seemed to spend a fair amount of time trying to tear Trump down (probably based on the justifiable concern that he was not a serious candidate, and that his success would be antithetical to the success of the party as a whole), but he and Roger Ailes met in September and Fox has backed away from that. The sense I get is that Fox News now sees him as, at least potentially, the Republican nominee, and doesn't want to poison the well for a general election cycle.

Destroying Trump will cost Fox News viewers and hurt Fox's preferred party's chances in November 2016 by fracturing the GOP. Destroying Trump will not cost CNN viewers and help CNN's preferred party's chances in November 2016 by fracturing the GOP. Seems like a pretty simple proposition, but if one needs more, Fox News has all the viewers it's likely to get whereas CNN desperately needs more viewers by any means necessary. For CNN it's win-win-win.

How could CNN's coverage of all of Trump's controversies do anything but help him in the GOP primaries? Since conservatives such as yourself all believe that the MSM is liberal biased (rather than bottom line biased, which is what they truly are) then being "torn down" by CNN does nothing but make him a martyr to conservatives which increases his popularity. Their coverage has only helped him.

Fox hates trump, but their idiot viewers love him, so the only thing Fox can do is talk about something else and hope that Trump blows over.

The great thing about it is the way Donald grabbed the mic & pushed 'em off the stage, then wowwed their regular audience with Fox's own lies & his pugnacious style.

Hell- he made up more of his own that they love just as much-

Murdoch is tearing out in clumps what little hair he has left every time Trump's ratings go up. I bet he's already resorting to picking at his eyebrows as he realizes that the quandary he's in can only be resolved by Trump himself.

Now that's what I call a classic squeeze play by Trump, and he must be enjoying this situation he created as much as Murdoch and Priebus despises it. That's a very strong position for Trump to be in, and if he can make it to the primaries being in the lead, then that leverage he has built for himself can be used in so many nefarious and creative ways by Trump.

I'd sure like to see things play out this way.

Because Hillary shines the less she is covered in the Media and the less people are exposed to her.

Fox finally found someone they can't control and can't undermine through total bombardment of negative media. Trump feeds on the stuff. Like a cop in a donut factory.

Isn't it obvious?

For CNN, it is about the ratings.

Fox news wants a "real" Republican candidate to win, so they want to downplay Trump.

I am not seeing much difference between republicans and democrats once either get elected.

To me, the two parties in this upcoming presidential election should be called Trump and Republocrats.

Ratings. Trump brings them in.

MSNBC has wall to wall coverage of Trump as well.

No sexiness in someone's 19 point plan for improving college affordability when the election is still a year away.

Trump is taking about killing families, rounding up Mexicans and interrogating Muslims at the borders. This is a no brainer.

Maybe if Bernie talked about castrating bankers and hanging them from their wall st office windows he'd get some air time, even if for all the wrong reasons.

Oh, please. Trump merely succeeds at sensationalist one liners, playing the media for chumps the same way he plays his fan base. It's all frothy emotionalism. He's good at getting the knuckle draggers all riled up. Fortunately, they're nowhere near a majority of the electorate.

Appreciating Hillary requires actual thought, not a strong point of that crowd.

That's called willful blindness.
