Why does chocolate help stress?

JEDI

Lifer
I feel much better after eating a bowl of chocolate ice cream.

What is it about chocolate that helps relieve stress?

because it makes you forget about all your other stress and gives you something else to worry about....getting a fat ass!

Caffeine and sugar will give you a temporary high.

Cocoa has long term health benefits, but nothing that will immediately help with stress. But I'd recommend getting it directly from cocoa instead of getting it from chocolate.

Actually chocolate contains seratonin and phenylethylamin. Both of these chemicals are naturally produced by the human body. They are also both mood altering. Higher levels of seratonin can lead to feelings of euphoria and happiness. Women are much more likely to experience these sensations than men.

Also, to note... both of the chemicals above are somewhat addictive, which can explain the phenomina of chocoholics.

some complex carbohydrates have similar effects on the human body.

p.s.
releases dopamine in your brain, creates a sensation of well being.

That is correct also.....

Cocoa is better for you than dark chocolate. Just take a spoon full, and eat it! Just don't breath until it's all down.

It's a drug, ask a pharmacist.
