Not taste as good as regular diet coke? I can totally tell them apart. Does caffeine have a taste?

Thanks.

I dunno.

Clear Pepsi tastes worse than Pepsi, but everyone says its just coloring and the flavor is supposed to be the same.

Life is crazy.

caffeine is bitter. I'm sure it affects the flavor profile. I'd rather drink water than diet anything.

"Diet" anything is madness! But yea, caffeine affects the flavor. Be suspicious of anything that changes the ingredients and claims to taste the same.

Without real sugar and caffeine, why drink the shit? At that point just drink sparkling flavored water.

Maybe it's intentional. Maybe they'd rather make the more addictive sodas have a more appealing so you drink those and get addicted.

Isn't caffeine free diet coke just flavored sparkling water at that point?
Good flavored sparkling water doesn't have sweetener, natural or otherwise. Sweetened 'sparkling beverage' tastes sweeter than regular soda many times, and usually at least 4* as shitty.

The opposite is true, IMO. Yes, caffeine has a taste - it's very bitter.

When I actually drank a soda or two per day (because the fridge at work was stocked) I greatly preferred caffeine free Diet Coke and Pepsi. They both tasted better than caffeinated versions of either. The best is still Mexican Coke, sweetened with sugar, and I indulge in one of those every couple of months.

Soda is terrible with liquor in it. It ruins both products.

Definitely not. Jack and coke, gin and tonic, rum and coke. Various drinks with a splash of soda in them. Delicious.

Soda is useless without alcohol.

Coke makes Jack barely palatable. It's like putting saccharin and grape flavor into medicine so kids will take it. It's an improvement(maybe), but no one thinks it tastes good. I'll take a straight rum any day over ruining it with coke. I'll concede the tonic water if we're calling that a soda, but I don't know anyone who drinks that straight

Negative. You can buy sparkling water who's indigents are just water and natural flavor. Nothing else. It's what I drink.

my niece will not drink my caffeine free Mountain Dew because she claims it tastes different. If there is a taste to caffeine it is so minor i do not notice it. And I do not take caffeine but do like a good Mountain Dew.

You bastard, you beat me by mere minutes!
I've read a number of articles along this line, it's fascinating. One of them involved them serving people food that had been dyed weird colors, then eating it in a room with lights that were filtered to make it look normal, and then they turned the lights off... and some of the people got sick. Plate size/shape/color can play a factor in our perception of flavor/how full we get.
