Why does button phobia exist?

I can't think of a reason why people would be afraid of buttons. Every common phobia I can think of has a logical explanation-- fear of spiders, snakes, heights, etc could be instinctive protection from dangerous things. They could be culturally ingrained, and not biological.

So why would
button phobia be so common??
 
My pseudo intelligent guess is that when kids are young, maybe they suffered a real shocking or scaring experience with pushing a button and hearing a LOUD SIREN or NOISE thus scaring a real crap out of them + getting into trouble by parents or something.

That + preconditioning = phobia as adult?

I cannot think of any particular examples...
 
My parents used to beat me with a sock full of buttons. I now panic when I see socks, bottons or rodents with three legs.
