Why does beer on tap taste better than in a can?

Because tap beer is generally better cared for. Proper refrigeration, faster rotation of product, no sitting on the shelf for months on end. You're drinking fresher beer that has probably been properly refrigerated the entire time, as opposed to possibly older beer that has probably undergone many temperature shifts.

Bottle/Tap can go either way with me as far as preference. It depends on the beer.

Cans are generally not so great, I agree :) Unfortunately it's either cans or the rare plastic bottle at a lot of parks, at least in my area...

I actually prefer Murphy's Irish Stout over Guinness, but it is harder to come by.

I dont think they ever cleaned the lines at Reunion Arena in Dallas...the tap beer was pretty nasty...(at least the bud light taps by section 221 were)...ever since, I stick to the bottled stuff...

they have opened the new arena in dallas now, but couldn't tell ya about the tap beer there...
