Just think...40+ years ago, those were the best athletic shoe you could get... :\

They were the "Official Basketball Shoe of the NBA" for years and years.

And I believe it was Converse that turned down the "gel in a waffle iron" cushioning eventually sold to Nike.

I only wear mine on leg or back days. Every other day, Jordans work well enough.

They look ok if they're gray or black. However the lack of cushioning is reprehensible and the toe is too pointy to accommodate your toes. Unless maybe you're a girl.

I bought a pair in '09 and had to insert insoles so I could wear them for extended periods. But the pointy toes rubbed too much so I eventually threw them out because I never wore them.

Even back when I was super skinny I did not like the lack of cushioning in them and felt the bare street below. Those glass shards and nails will go right through them.

So I had a pair as a teen and I lost them on purpose. People with feet problems should not wear them.

The very first edition of air jordans made my toes bleed. The store where I bought them at @Union Station in Washington D.C. would not take them back.... all sales final.

for the exact same reason people wear Nike; because of the brand/image/stupid friends.

the fact that Nike are actually good has nothing to do with their success.

my chucks are among the most comfortable shoes i've worn, off and on (no pun) since the 80's. i'm a 12 wide and there's a bit too much room in the toe. largely unchanged since the 30's, chuck taylors are a fashion staple as much as blue jeans and leather jackets. however, paying over $50 for basic black chucks is just absurd - there isn't 50 cents worth of shoe there, never mind 50 bucks.

people toss around "hipster" like the terms "hippie", "yuppie" et cetera - you don't know what you're talking about.

I have a pair of classic pumas and initially they were super uncomfortable but after a few times wearing them they became comfortable. But I think that has lots to do that all they shoes that I have had for a number of years have had some sort of high-tech cushioned soles and these are just a piece of solid rubber.

I wear logger boots. I find them more comfortable and lasts far longer.

I got two pairs: one black and one red. Barely wore the black because I bought one side too small. Red one I got when I went attention whoring at work -- bored. Lot of compliments, probably backhanded.

They have relatively little cushioning, which is good and bad. At $50-ish, cheap as hell and don't really go out of style. Can't wear them in the winter when it's butt freezing though.
