Why does alcohol make you crave nasty food?

Nothing better than a drunken romp to Waffle House or Denny's, but why does alcohol make you want to stuff your face with nasty ass greasy food?

And of course regret it all the next day.

Oil in junk food coats your stomach after it was stripped of coating due to alcohol. I heard it's also good to eat greasy food when drinking to protect the stomach and you won't get drunk as much.
