Why do you put the reason for editing your post in your post?

I'm guilty of doing this but many times I don't state the reason for editing my post. Why do we do this?

If you can think of any reasons I haven't thought of please tell me and I'll add them to the poll. I'm not going to state why I edited my post though. :p

Depends on why I'm editting it. I never put "EDIT:" when I make typos, but when I add something extra I usually put it after an "EDIT:" so people know what was added.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I do too. Why do we do this though? It's something I've thought about briefly as I edit my posts but never bothered to question. I probably started doing it because I saw others do it but do people get any value out of this? Does anyone really care why you edited your post?

I put why I edited a comment in. I get curious sometimes when I see people have edited their posts and I figure it takes me an extra 10 seconds to explain it so why not? You never know what someone could have edited out. Come to think of it, I'm not sure why I do it. It's not like if I removed some content or changed my mind I'm going to put "edit: removed this text...".

Who knows.

I dunno... I guess it may help people make better sense of my posts if they know which part I added after later reflection. I don't bother to notify for of spelling/grammar corrections.
