I wanted to know why you some of you guys play MMORPG's and get addicted.

What is so attractive about them that makes you want to play it like you're addicted to crack? :)

What features are you looking for in an MMORPG?

What do hate about them?

Character development, social interaction & cooperative accomplishments. Social interaction is a big part of it - where else can you chill with intelligent, non-adolescent people, often of a technological bent and who aren't trying to argue politics or religion? MMORPGs are honestly the only place I've found for that.

What, and the real world is somehow not filled with people who wish to talk about only religion and politics, and are idiots? Cause if people where you live are like that, tell me, cuase I'm moving there!

Just covering my bases for the inevitable replies of real world (intelligent), atot (non-adolescent) and various message boards (religion & politics).

i don't solely play mmorpg's but i have played several of thema nd still currently do
they are just fun, almost real time, you have an end goal (like ot get to the top lvl, get a specific power, armor, or weapon) almost alwyas something to do and the best ones almost alwyas have something new to do even when at the top lvl
also the fact that it is real people you play with or against aswell along with NPC's it is just more complex yet fun like WoW or complex both game wise and play wise like DAOC

We're talking about the same place here? The place where the pinnacle of entertainment is considered to be watching people eat insects on TV and every product, from electronics to clothing, needs labels warning about the hazards of eating it?

If that is what your world consists of, sure.

Just like in that South Park episode with the Gamesphere, nothing interesting ever happens in real life. ;)

I never play them myself, but not because I wouldn't think they're fun, rather I'm afraid I will actually love playing them & start devoting my life to them. Because really, if you're going to start a video game, you might as well go all out & play to its fullest, else what's the point to it all?
