Why do you hate your video card?

my 9700pro still gets killed with 4-6X AA in UT2K3 in high res and 16X AF enabled. I'm talking fps getting as low as 20. Gets killed with truform as well. No AA and no truform for me...

well youre probably running 1600x1200 with like 6xaa and 16xaf in ut2k3, thats gunna kill any card, plus, what kinda cpu do you have? ut2k3 uses a lot of cpu power too... >_>

I know, I know. But its like realizing perfection but being unable to attain it. it frustrates me greatly. my comp is running at 2.34 GHz. I hoped with this thread that we'd get at some of the weaknesses that current cards exhibit while avoiding a flame war.

oh, but I run UT2K3 at 1240 X1024

its a northwoody harabecw! I generally play last man standing or deathmatch with 10-15 bots with all details maxed out. with less bots I get more frames...

I hate my video card because nVidia made it and nVidia is the devil! Those cheaters! AAHHHHHH... my life is ruined because nVidia cheated. Nobody play with those cheaters anymore... I'm telling my mom.

I actually don`t mind my Leadtek GF2 Ti,it `s not the fastest card by any means but it has never let me down in gaming stability wise,I do wish it had DVI-I ,however my next card will have that which`ll be soon.

I got a 9700 non pro.
Needless to say, i had a gf2 befo, and the performance increase was great, but...i expected more from it. Games run fine, all graphics maxed out, 1024x768 (the res i prefer). But in U2: the awakening on a map called Hell i get about 30fps! That map runs slow for some reason. Other than that i get good framerates in U2. I realised, that the best setting is 2aa, and 2 or 4 af (performance af). I've been playing Doom3 pre-release (muwahahaha! it kick ass to live in Russia!) and i get kick-ass framerates, but since its verison 0.something its really, really buggy. Just like the SoF2 i got half a year before it was released. Sof 2 was like a bug kingdom. And the TV out sux major balls. Also i dont like that the BIOS is locked (otherwise everybody would buy the non-pro and overclock it 😉 ), and i have to flash it, as opposed to using a "native" overclocking utility.
Cons: I EXPECTED MORE!!! 3 years passed, and this is the newest technology? LOL! In a year, im gonna overclock the living $hit out of it. Same sink as the PRO, why not? Memory is rated at 333 (x2 = 667), infinion 3.3ns, and the core is the same. Overlcoking is a must.
Pros - still mighty kick ass. Using 2aa (the BIIIIIIIG difference between no aa, and no difference between 4aa) makes games beautiful, at a small performance hit cost. AF - i find little use for af more than 4x, in most games. The only games that really likes 16af, and looks A LOT better, is operation flashpoint.

I really expected more when i got it. 14200 3dmarks (175 fsb, mmory at 7-3-3-3) dont mean nothin! 220 bux?! cmon.

Ok, I just got one of my father's day gifts: guys you won't believe this but I got myself a Radeon 9600 Pro. So far I don't hate it at all. AGP8X, Fast Writes, and USB 2.0 all working so far! :Q

Of course you hate it. you LOATH it. you scream at night remembering the sheer horror that is the Radeon 9600 Pro. you will forever regret having that, that THING, which has destroyed all hope of life for you.

Your soul belongs to ATI now. there is no escape. you are doomed.

*curtain falls*

Of course it does. The level of workload required for such settings is quite high for today's video cards.

That CPU isn't particularly fast for a game like UT2003.
