Why do you hate anime?

I don't like it because it's very weird. All of the characters have disproportioned bodies with massive freaking heads. Also even the adult characters act like children; pure emotion. It's like sci-fi just without any limits on anything based in reality and I'm not even talking about Japan's love for rape-porn which enters into some aspects of anime.

And no I don't really care to watch any to dispel my opinions of it so please don't recommend any to me I don't feel like I'm missing out on life by not watching it

I've found that most people that don't like it, it's either "not thier thing" and they're just not into it, or they haven't seen any good ones.

Can't really fault anybody on that.

That basically sums up my reasons for not liking it. Minimal exposure, and the exposure that I did have, I just wasn't into it.

You'd be surprised how many young Japanese adults act like kids.

It's a huge generalization, but...

Generally in western culture a woman becomes attractive if she has "matured" enough to a certain level...so you see a bunch of kids wearing make up and do all sorts of things.

It's kind of backwards in Japan, where females tend to act *younger*. Wonder why there are so many school girl fetishes are portrayed? The school girl outfit (sailor outfit, I suppose) is supposed to be attractive to Japanese males. I'm going to guess it's because it stands for innocence and purity of when people were kids.

Of the anime I've seen I've hated it all. Some of the reasons:
1) None ever had a story line. And if there is one, it was always a long drawn out battle. Is there any anime without fighting?
2) Boring.
3) I like things drawn realistically - eyes as big as or bigger than the head isn't realistic.
4) Frequent flashing backgrounds give me a headache instantly.
5) The art just is lacking quality - like a five year old drew it. (Note: this applies to many cartoons as well).

re: other ppl. i thought anime was dumb because of the good reasons ppl are posting here, until recently. i saw some "better" ones with storylines and good animation. anime is just like any other "real" show, most of them are gonna suck.

i'd recommend cowboy bebop, trigun and grave of the fireflies.

I hear Azumanga Daioh got licensed though. Funniest anime I've ever seen. Perhaps the funniest *anything* I've ever seen. Lots of cultural references though, and I don't know if most other people will find its character driven story to be good. Lacks plot. Just good clean fun

I've seen all the supposedly "great" anime and haven't been impressed by any of them: Akira, Ghost in the SHell, Ninja Scroll, Princess Mononoke, Vampire Hunter D. The characters are usually too ridiculous and plots too convoluted and pointless...

I hated them all. IMO they're not all that "great".

Watching them in subbed/dub format also makes a difference -- dubbed anime generally really sucks.



If you're not a fan of really odd plot lines, that's too bad, because some of the best animes are just...well....neat! (Eg: Evangelion, FLCL, Macross, etc)
