Is the fungi always there but just meets the right conditions to grow? Or do you need to touch something, like you get it from a lockerroom floor.

Yes

Yes, you get it from a persons other feet that have walked on the gym floor?
What if you have sex with someone with crotch rot? Can you get it that way?

I've always heard that you contract athlete's foot from certain contact (thus the "sandals-in-the-shower" concept).

As for crotch rot, I've never heard of that condition before, but it sounds scary.

It comes from rubbing your sac on the shower floor.

Without sandals, of course.

wtf is crotch rot?

LMFAO.. This is the first time I have heard of it...
More commonly known as jock itch. I assume it is contracted by using the same towel to dry your athlete's foot-infested feet and your crotch.

I don't really know though. I guess if you're bumping uglies with someone who has it you'll get it too.

It thrives in dark, damp places... which is why those two areas are the most prone to it.

Red irritation with cracked skin and puss, eventually "things" fall off. But that's what you get for boinking out of wedlock.

I've had crotch rot, but it wasn't from sex or anything. I got it when I was in the Army and out in the field without a shower in a tropical area for a couple of weeks. I learned not to wear underwear in those conditions from then on out.

It hurt like hell, but the Medic gave me some cream and it was gone the next morning. That sh!t hurt man!

The right conditions you can get a fungal infection. The most frequent cause of "crotch rot" is putting on your underwear before your socks. The simple reason is if you have a fungal infection on your feet, and they touch your underwear when you put them on, you transfer the fungus. It sounds funny but it is true.

We had to wear our flip-flops in boot camp too.

You're one odd cat to want to see something like that, but your wish is granted

More commonly known as jock itch.

BTW, in the Army, "crotch rot" is generally a nasty combination of tinea cruris (jock itch) combined with bad chafing (sometimes which has gotten infected), and it can truly f**k you up.

you people are hopeless....

candida albicans - it is EVERYWHERE

it grows in moist areas of the body -
it cannot be eradicated by soap..you can't wash it away once it sets up housekeeping in your body

in children in causes diaper rash (from wet bottoms caused by diapers holding moisture against the skin)
in immunosuppressed people and in those with diabetes - causes thrush, oral candidiasis
in athletes, results in athletes foot and "crotch rot" because of perspiration trapped in the jock straps and shoes/socks.
in women causes vaginitis (vagina=retained moisture)
in obese adults - skin breakdown and inflammation under the breasts, under a stomach roll, in the groins - secondary to retained moisture.

soap and water will not correct the problem

the only way to kill the candida (which cause reddness, itchiness, and a wet, slimy feeling to the skin with a peculiar fetid odor) is to use a anti-fungal powder or cream on the effected skin (in severe cases fluconazole, a pill is effective), and to keep the area as dry as possible. repeat appplications of anti-fungal creanm aor powder may be periodically required to keep the little buggers at bay.

candida (the fungus) is everywhere, and it "takes over" and becomes a problem for some people because of retained mositure in skin folds, because of diabetes, immunosuppression, or use of antibiotics.

nuff said.
