I am not looking for a flame war here. I am looking for honest opinions about why people here have such strong negative feelings about Apple and their computers so much.

I am not going to interject. I am not going to argue what you have problems with or the reasons. I am not even going to post in this thread again other than to bump it. I just want to hear WHY.

Post as much or as little as you want. Just be open and honest about it.

And please, Mac supporters, let people voice their opinions. I know this is going to be difficult, but I REALLY don't want this to be a flame war.

I love mac design. I honestly think only Sony has pulled off anything that can be considered in the same category as the TiBooks or IBooks. I also admire the mac LCDs. The only thing that holds me back from getting a mac is price and lack of software availability. Lately, I've found myself becoming far less interested in video games, so perhaps a switch to mac is in the future for me. I only really need it for internet, music, AIM, email, ... the basics.

I hope Mac continues to bring the innovation behind the Ipod and its other products to the computer world.

I'd use Mac because you can do some amazing video work... anyone see Voices of of a Distant Star? The entire anime was produced on a Mac. Amazing.

I don't think I've ever used a Mac, but I'm not going to say I hate it just because I think I'm some 1337 computer snob.

Not a matter of hate, it's a matter of preference where bang for the buck is concerned.

I have to buy a Powerbook for some classes that I am taking in a year. Aside from the price, everything else about looks extremely nice.

I'm doing a trade for a Mac G3. Sure it's not that most current of Macs but it will give me some more hands on experience with the hardware and hopefully I can pick up a copy of OS X at a reasonable price. Really the only turn off for me has been that the price to get into the Mac hardware has always been (and probably always will be) quite high. Thus since I can get a PC that can do all that I want it to do for less I've gone with PCs. That and I'm a gamer & there isn't exactly a ton of games to select from on the Mac side of things.

Hatin' on Mac users is really an ignorance issue nowadays...they've come a long way in the last few years. In fact, the only thing keeping me from switching is the software issue.

I think the BIG problem is software... after that, it probably depends on the user (Gamer, Editor, etc) or price. Along with other minor details.

I don't like how they are expensive. Also, I dont like how they control their market. It has gotten a lot better then the days when apple send the lawyers to clean out the clone makers, but they still have a long way to go in term of the hardware support PC has.

Also my 12th grade english teacher was a hard core Mac fanatic, therefore i must hate it. ;)

Other then that, I'd buy a Mac if I can afford it.

Too expensive for what you get.

Also the lack of being able to build your own and/or easily upgrading them.

I don't dislike/hate them, I would just never buy one.
Until I can play all the same games I can play on a PC that's how it will stay too. :).

And they are uncustomizable. You can't find software for them. Half of the people who use them use them just to be different.

I wasn't aware the G3 was OSX compatible.
The price prevents me, but it doesn't stop me from recommending MACS to noobs and such. I have 2 friends that couldn't get the hang of PCs but took to MACS like ducks to water.
Go figure......

Not a Mac hater either, I had one, and it was a fine machine for the time. PC's have advantages though

Software selection is greater
Important for me-- I can build one, and improve it as needed/desired
Much less expensive for a given performance point.

I don't hate Apple. They just don't suit my current needs...occasional gaming and reasonably-priced hardware. ;)
