And I never said that God was not a separate entity in addition to existing in part inside every being. And if the physical nature of that being died, why would the spiritual part of God that existed inside them die as well? Or do you not believe in life after death? Do you not believe that He created us and gave us life?

so many questions... ok, one at a time now...

1. sorry for misunderstanding you. the ancient Hebrew tetragrammaton that reads "YHWH" or "JHVH" in many modern languages, and "is a form of a Hebrew verb ha·wah' (), meaning "to become," and actually signifies "He Causes to Become." * Thus, God's name identifies him as the One who progressively fulfills his promises and unfailingly realizes his purposes. Only the true God could bear such a meaningful name."
(Source: http://www.watchtower.org/library/na/article_02.htm)

2. when God sends his holy spirit to others, it's a part of him, but not him as a person, but his active force. That is important to note, b/c many religions try to attribute the one true God as part of some trinity, or "three in one" entity, which has roots in paganism that was prominent at the time of the first century by non-believers.

3. If the physical being died, he/she/it is no more, which is why the holy spirit should be considered as an object. there is life after death, but only the creator can give that, and He does so by resurrecting those who have passed on with life so that they can be revived. but the dead are consious of nothing, so it is no guarantee that one will remember things after they are resurrected. in fact, consider the question asked by the Sadducees to Jesus in Matthew 22:23-27:
23 On that day Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came up to him and asked him: 24 ?Teacher, Moses said, ?If any man dies without having children, his brother must take his wife in marriage and raise up offspring for his brother.? 25 Now there were seven brothers with us; and the first married and deceased, and, not having offspring, he left his wife for his brother. 26 It went the same way also with the second and the third, until through all seven. 27 Last of all the woman died. 28 Consequently, in the resurrection, to which of the seven will she be wife? For they all got her.?

29 In reply Jesus said to them: ?YOU are mistaken, because YOU know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God; 30 for in the resurrection neither do men marry nor are women given in marriage, but are as angels in heaven. 31 As regards the resurrection of the dead, did YOU not read what was spoken to YOU by God, saying, 32 ?I am the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob?? He is the God, not of the dead, but of the living.? 33 On hearing [that], the crowds were astounded at his teaching.

only 144,000 will go to heaven, as God did not create the Earth for nothing ('be fruitful, and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it', his original purpose laid out for mankind in Genesis). Others will survive and have everlasting life on Earth as part of the new kingdom (thy kingdom come) under Jesus for 1,000 years, then Jehovah himself after that. Now that is not to say that b/c someone doesn't get to heaven that they won't be 'saved', as life everlasting on an earthly paradise that is an extension of the original garden of Eden sounds pretty sweet to me.

In reality, none. Wars are ALWAYS fought over money (and wealth). It's just that sometimes, the nobles who will profit from the war enlist the aid of corrupt priests in order to sell the war to the masses.

Also, I would point out that Paul did not say that money is the root of all evil. That is a common misquotation. He said that "the love of money is the root of all evil". (1 Timothy 6:10)

Get real. Look at the Middle East, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Northern Ireland, and countless others all conflicts who roots are religion. Religion is a plague that has swept the world for too long. All people in all religions or lack therof can understand that things like murder, stealing and cheating are wrong, so what is the big deal with how some people help remind themselves of this?

So what if a "weak" person turns to God? So what if they need someone to help them get back on their feet? If believing in God helps them turn their life around, who really gives a crap how they do it?

MichaelD, you are no different than the people who try to cram religion down your face or scream that you're going to hell because you don't believe. There are two ends of the spectrum. Why do you have to bring up such a fit over something that you believe you are so correct in?

Sometimes people act like this is some sort of freaking competion or something... it's ridiculous.

you do know that the use of rosary beads and the veneration of the virgin mary and the saints amount to idolatry, right?

Yep - using beads to keep track of counting is horrible.
Yep - showing respect to Mary because she's the mother of your savior is horrible.
Yep - praising saints for their good work is horrible.

those aren't horrible, but...
praying to some beads instead of God is (look up... golden calf, idolatry in your bible)
praying to or giving divine treatment to an imperfect human instead of praising the only true creator is....
even Christ didn't want people to worship him, as he once told a man not to kneel before him, but before the one who sent him, Jehovah God, the creator of all heaven and earth.

If you want to be sarcastic, fine, but the items of worship that many use today aren't necessary, and if you look at Bible history, may be offensive to God...

you may benefit by reading more...

Call me intolerant

It's also called being a fascist.

OT to lighten things up; Which remindeds me of a joke that comes off a list, "How to annoy a fascist", Tell him that his armband is inside out.

I'd hope you would. banging billygoats doesn't sound like much fun, I'm sure your brother is not too pleased with that accusation.

that being said, give the Bible a consideration, would you?

Sorry the Bible doesn't mean shat to me....

Here are my Questions.

Answer these questions for me....

1)If God is all knowing and Benevolent why did he allow millions of people to go to to Hell before Jesus was sent to be our "Savior"

2)How Do you explain dinosaurs existence?

3) If we are all "God's Children" Then why are people of different faith then yours, and also gay people discriminated agaisnt? Doesn't this make you a biggot and a hypocrite? What makes you better then anyone else?

Please enlighten me

Ausm

1) Ok, well as you've read the Bible, the Jews were God's chosen people. His original plan before sending down Jesus was to use the nation as Israel as sort of a priesthood for all the other nations. Israel would be an example to the other nations and shows the power of God and his love. <-- Simplified, of course. But the practices that the Jews followed were the ways to enter Heaven. However, as many of us know, the Jews consistently chose to disobey God and sin and fall away from him, then after getting shafted, call out for help, and so on and so forth. It was a cycle that repeated endlessly, and God knew that it would not work very well. I dont pretend to be a biblical scholar, so if I'm wrong about some facts, then correct me.

Also, people even after Jesus was sent to be our Savior have also gone to Hell according to the Christian belief.

2) Umm.... they were created? Some people believe that the 7 days, aren't really days, but 7 different periods of time when the world was created. That sort of answers your question, but this seems insignificant compared to the magnitude of your other two questions.

3) UMMMMM... Please try and understand what we claim as Christians. We don't claim that we're "better than anyone else." In fact, you may be better person than me. However, in God's eyes, we're all screwed up people, and even if you're 10x better than me, 10/Infinity is still 0, just as 1/Infinity is. The main difference according to our belief is that I accept God's gift of grace and you don't. This means that I am saved and you are not. This does not mean that I am better than you (I answered the last phrase first because it sort of bothered me :()

Also, God gives people the choice to worship him or not. That is the beauty of it all. After all, if everyone was Christian because they had to be, what kind of relationship would that be with God?? A non-existant one. Furthermore, this means that with free will, we can worship different religions and still be "God's children" much like a child disobeying his parents.

Also, according to our religion, homosexuality is a sin. Some choose to discriminate, but I try not to. Rather, to me, and according to the Bible, all sins are sins. I treat them equally, and even though they openly sin, I openly sin too in other ways, i.e. lust, greed, etc. Gay people are no worse than people who lie or gossip often. Obviously, as we've seen, others are not so forgiving, but oh well, that is their choice. You must understand, that as Christians, we don't claim to be perfect, in fact, we accept we are sinners and that is why we need Christ to get to heaven. We can be bigger bigots and idiots, but many of us try to live our lives wholefully to the best of our ability. I try. That is all.

I dont see how people can put so much belief in to something that they've never seen, never heard, cannot prove exists, and cannot be proven to exist.

We can show why volcanoes erupt, why cancer kills people, why there is weightlessness in space, how earthquakes work, why filiments get warm and emit light when a current is applied, and design highly advanced circuitry that can carry text/audio/video thousands of miles in seconds, simply with electricity, but there is no way of proving that God exists, no matter what we do. There is absolutly no evidence that the 'person' that 'created' and 'controls' everything is a reality.

Money is not the root of all evils, Religion is. How many wars has Religion played a key part in?

Just finished a very long post, so I'm not going to answer everything very well, but:

By being Christian, you are subscribing to a harder, MORE DIFFICULT life, rather than an easier one. God doesn't claim to prevent you from dying or make your life easier. That is the price of sin, death.

Some people put belief into things that they have FELT.

Perhaps because God is not of this earth?

Christianity is a belief that people are passionate about. People will go to war over anything they have passion over. It just happens to be that in Europe and Americas, there is a strong Christian influence and therefore most of the leaders have been Christian. How do you explain the wars in Asia and South America and Africa before Christianity reached there? I am sure that absent religion, that there would still have been wars.

Call me intolerant I don't care, but I for one support banning religious teaching to children. It should be illegal for a child to go to church, temple, mosque. The spread of religion needs to be stopped, and this should be the first step with the children.

It should also be illegal for kids to go to school or with their friends, because they might hear ideas that are bad

I am going to come into this thread for the first time, after telling the mods that this could potentially hurt people, because these beliefs are rooted into the depths of their being.

First, I would like to address dawks' post. God does not control our lives. He gave us free will to choose. When bad things happen, it is not the wrath of God, nor is it spiteful. For individual faith, I believe that God is there to help me along on my day to day struggles. He is a confidant, but much more so. By believing in a divine presence, I have something to take with me, a best friend who always cares.

My own journey into faith was like many athiests on these boards. When I was a child, I doubted any divine presence, I despised going to church, and I was forced to go to a youth group that taught me nothing. However, when I was a teenager, I met some people that really changed my life. In high school youth group, I met some of the most caring people I have ever met. These were 25 year-old men who took time out of their hectic schedules to talk to teens about the Lord. And it was not just what they said, for I had heard it all before. No, it really was their actions. They were confident, caring, and deeply spiritual men. When it came time for my Confirmation, I was anointed by the bishop with one of these men sponsoring me, and for one of the first times in my life, I felt God's presence. I cannot explain it; its just something you have to feel yourself, but it changed me entirely. I continue to see these great people, and they still strike me everyday as one of those people that you really are proud you met. Words cannot describe them.

So now, I go to church twice a weekend. Not because I must, but because I work there. The priest at my church recognized how spiritual a person I was, and asked me to work in the church. And I can say that everytime I go there, I feel uplifted. If this makes me weak, so be it.

There are many people that go to my church every weekend that are powerful and educated people. Because I live near UNC, I go to the campus ministry. The President of UNC systems, the Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences, and numerous professors, successful lawyers, and brilliant students all come to this church. I guess then that MichaelD calls them weak. So be it. By doing that, he is combining all Christians into one group, which is simply not the case.

The Catholic should reply: "As the Bible says, I am already saved (Rom. 8:24, Eph. 2:5?8), but I?m also being saved (1 Cor. 1:8, 2 Cor. 2:15, Phil. 2:12), and I have the hope that I will be saved (Rom. 5:9?10, 1 Cor. 3:12?15). Like the apostle Paul I am working out my salvation in fear and trembling (Phil. 2:12), with hopeful confidence in the promises of Christ (Rom. 5:2, 2 Tim. 2:11?13)."
I can agree to that :)

You know at first I wasn't going to show my true opinion on religion but after reading this read I just can't help my self any more.

Hearing bad ideas and teaching religion is very different. A few people with a bad idea isn't going to kill millions like these religious ideas are.

It is just something I remember, but I can't find it on google.

However JW have allowed children to die by refusing blood tranfusions. Very sad.

they have not allowed children to die....

the person who makes that stand, whether a child (by means of his parents' consent) or an adult, is taking a personal stand on the issue of no blood. this is pre-arranged by signed documents that each party agrees to PRIOR to injury, surgery, or any medical procedure... so they know the risks involved.

the sad thing is, blood is considered unclean and biblically should not be shared or eaten or anything between humans (see Acts 15:20 in your Bible), yet so many people in this world, even those who "claim" to be Christian continue to use blood instead of educating themselves on transfusion alternatives and other alternative bloodless medical procedures that are every patient's right to know about and choose.
In that manner, they are unknowingly (and some knowingly, by refusing to listen to or heed the warnings) sinning against God, the creator who can himself give and restore life.

Read and Understand the real issues about Blood

And children are aborted before they even had a chance to live. Also very sad.

JW's do not believe in abortion, but I detect the sarcasm in your post... Sad indeed.
