Why do we put lettuce on sandwiches?

Lettuce makes the sandwich and iceberg is the best. It's not there for nutrition or taste. It adds moisture (locked into the leaf, doesn't make the bread soggy) and crunchy texture. There's a reason that the brilliant scientists that created the new Wendy's burger insisted on iceberg lettuce and not some wussy leafy crap.

I'm not a vegetable person at all but I love lettuce and tomato in a sandwich/burger. Pickles belong no where near me.

My sandwiches contain the only ingredients needed for the sandwich to taste good...

Meat. Bread. Cheese.
