Just wondering. (CLIFFS AT BOTTOM)
:hmm:
I have a friend w/ his kid in the terrible twos and the kid seems very hard to train. Keeps acting up, and time out isn't working. He doesn't understand English yet so it's impossible to reason other then hand gestures/body expressions, so probably beating him may speed things up a bit.
Anyway, how come I can't remember anything....NOTHING at all from up to say...around pre-school age. I can remember some things but I would say memories were very hazy up until around the late toddler age.
So WTF is going on with your brain before you learn how to communicate? I mean, it's not a "communication" problem, as if I went to Spain and had a communication problem, it would still be blatantly obvious I was trying to communicate even though I had no concept of the language.
But when you are small, you aren't even bothering to communicate. It's like looking at a caged animal on the other side of the glass wall, it is alive, but it doesn't appear anything is going on on the "inside".
Hmmm...
So at what point in my life, did the magic "spark" come about where all of a sudden I'm a fully functioning human that is contributing in some form, to general society? I'm pretty sure it didn't happen when I was born, and it sure as heck didn't happen the following year.
Anything between lets say, 2-3 is extremely hazy, I remember certain things for no reason I can explain, but they had to have been when I was extremely young.
4-6 You are starting to develop a distinct personality and display some intelligence.
6-beyond, I would say you should be fully functioning beyond this age and only limited by education and experience.
Not sure how accurate I am with those ages, I don't even know how old I was when I was in preschool
Anyway, I find it hard to understand why when I was first born, I was considered a human being, when obviously, I was only human in appearance.
I.E., if an Alien came to study us, it would probably be baffled at small children if it had only previously studied teenagers to adults.
Even kittens and puppies seem to maintain a full consciousness shortly after birth, it seems to be with them only a matter of energy difference during the aging process.
------------
Here's another side note, why is it that certain people you feel like you are talking to a brick wall? Let's say they are doing something....like making you a sandwich. And you say, "Hey, what made you want to use shaved turkey instead of sliced turkey breast?" And then they don't acknowledge you...like some sort of zombie. Or when they do talk, there is some distant stare in their eyes and whatever comes out of their mouth is just mumbling.
Is this an example of a person that never hit that "spark" that should have happened during childhood, or maybe it was more of a extremely tiny spark?
