Why do we need a Black History Month?

I agree. I absolutely try not to call a person out of a crowd by color for their skin except in the last resort.
He is very right in saying until we stop calling people by their color we will never end racism.
I had a post last night about my neighbor that go robbed ('burgularized' for the asshats). Today in a mixed group some 'black' people wanted to insist that a 'black' man had to be involved "wait for the final report".
The witnessed saw 3 mexican men and 1 white man. I am sure the 3 mexicans are probably not all from mexico.

Awesome words. He said Black History is American History which it is. Why is it any different? He asked why there's no White or Jewish History month. Black History month is extremely racist.

The sad thing is that if a White guy said why do we need a Black History month, Al Sharpton would be all over that.

I thought that was every month of the bleedin year!
My grandkids are "bi-racial"...yet they know nothing about the contributions of Black Americans to the history of this country. Now that they live with me, it's fallen to me to teach them...so, this year, I took my oldest grandson (age 9) to the library of the community college I was attending for some very eye-opening programs, let him look at some books about the famous Black Americans who have helped build America instead of trying to tear it down, and at the end of the day, I believe he came away with a whole new understanding of what Black people can and do accomplish in America, instead of the fucking ghetto rats like his dad and family.
One other great concept similar to what Morgan Freeman bespoke, deals with the "American Indian.
We in America would go fucking ballistic if there was a "Bureau of African-American Affairs, " or a "Bureau of Jewish Affairs," yet we STILL have a Bureau of Indian Affairs...
Russell Means has lectured on this for many, many years. WHY should the US government be in charge of property rights for those on the reservations? Why should there be reservations at all? Why are the original treaties not being honored?
I have (or had) quite a few family members on a couple of the Sioux reservations in South Dakota. NOT one of America's greatest accomplishments...the near complete extermination of a people...and corralling the few who remained onto almost worthless land...until gold and uranium was found on that land....so they were corralled onto even MORE worthless land?

Well fuck, what do you propose we do? Forget about all the injustices of the past so that we can continue to relive them in the future? Why bother teaching about the holocaust while we're at it? After all, it was so long ago...it never really happened right? Let's just forget about science too because we all know that sky fairies created the world and all its wonders so there's no reason to explore or try to figure these things out.
Well, history is in the past so let's just move on without ever learning from it. It's like dumbfucks have taken control and threw a huge blanket of ignorance over the United States.

And that's sad.
What does a standard elementary school history class contain these days? I'm 27 and I honestly can't remember what our history classes were like. I think they were just the same crap over and over again with a little more detail.

Because if they didn't have a month they wouldn't get shit? Outside of Febuary I can't think of any American history I learned about black people. We don't call the rest of the school year white history, but that's exactly what it is. There's maybe a week of talk about Indians around Thanksgiving, and the rest is basically history about the Caucasian man. If we didn't force schools to set aside a month, students wouuld at best get a few days about slavery and they'll say "well that's enough" Sometimes racism is needed to attempt to make things even. Too bad it's a pathetic, forced attempt

Ok so do you propose we have a WWI or WWII month so we can learn those injusticies??? I don't think you're understanding what Morgan Freeman or anyone in here is saying. Why have a month just for Blacks when it's obviously racist since it's just a part of American History? What makes the blacks more special than the whites or asians or indians? We're the only country that does stuff like that. Does Germany have a Jewish Heritage month? Do the Japanese have a Phillippine Month?
