Murder and Killing is illegal, BUT, if you join the miliitary or police you can kill all you want. Just try not to kill a WASP.

No you can't.

There are legitimate philosophical positions to take in opposition to both the military and the police. All this misinformation is unnecessary.

Have you seen the requirements for these professions? And they get to act all hotshit and be all around douchebags for a living.

You sound like a guy that walked in on his wife getting double teamed by some soldiers.

Having been a soldier and vet, I don't expect anyone to kiss my ass, I just expect them to be normal nice human beings and I'll do the same.

But as someone said, keep in mind that if people didn't sign up, the government would just pick and choose people to fight their wars. For some it is simply a job, for some it is more about patriotism, for others it's a family tradition thing. There are nice guys and assholes in every environment.

in order of respect i give:

1. firefighters - please keep saving my, and anyone else's, ass.
2. soldiers - under the guise of defending our country, half of them are nothing more than goons. if they weren't terrorizing people in a desert across the planet, they'd be terrorizing a town near you. the establishment they serve is as corrupt as anything else in america.
...
...
...
...
3. cops - at least 50% goons. on an individual level, never did a single thing for me. unless there's a chance of exercising their equipment fetishes, abusing their authority, or food, they won't lift a finger.

twice, refusing to do respond to my calls of truly maniacal drivers on the highway because i evaded contact with their vehicles.

zero investigation, never mind justice, of a $10,000 crime against me.

refusal to arrest an attacker:
cop: "don't tell me that. if you say he did that, then i have to arrest him."
me: "well, he did it. here's the mark on my head"
cop: "look, blah blah blah i can't be bothered to do my job"

it's small shit too - i waited an hour for a police report, which cost me $35 on top of my fucking taxes, for an hour because barney fife really, really didn't want to get off his fat, old ass. he sat at the counter reading the newspaper for 60 fucking minutes. if you're on lunch, why are you at the counter? if you're at the counter, why are you deliberately killing an hour of my time?

haha mass cops, so typical

Funny, I've been an Army Military Policeman for going on 19 years now. If 50% of the Army were criminals I would have millions of apprehensions in that time. Hell, I don't know how eight of us on shift daily could handle the workload?!

Frat boys at major universities are a bigger menace than the average Soldier in my experience.

Cops/soldiers are not universally heroes. In fact, most cops are fucking assholes.

Heroes are people who saves lives everyday, like ER doctors and nurses.

The comments in that video are beyond horrible and sick.

Police are humans. They have families just like everyone else. To be happy he was shot.... To laugh and make fun of his blood-curdling scream... I mean, what the hell? I know its the internet, but wow.

It's because the people who go frequent You Tube are no older then fifeteen. Look at all the popular You Tube stars. Smosh, Pewdiepie, etc.. Their fan base is made up of 15 year old screaming kids. Also, look at all the stupid and juvenile prank videos. They mostly appeal to teens.

It wouldn't surprise me to that the people who were laughing at the cop being shot were in their teens.

No, I get that. Just as a LEO, it doesn't sit well with me. Same with those who just lump everyone in a profession as an uneducated asshole.

With regards to the obvious troll OP, I don't expect anyone to "kiss my ass" on or off duty. I just follow the golden rule. Treat me the way you want to be treated. I do the same. It's as simple as that.

I don't kiss their ass.

I do give them the same respect as anyone else, though, and don't go out of my way to be an asshole unless they start crying about how their payment, training, opportunity for education, and lifetime benefits aren't enough and that I'm somehow indebted to them for choosing a job that anyone could get with what passes as a high school education. Everyone gets asshole mode for similar circumstances, though; some people just don't know when they've been treated adequately.

Again, more misinformation. Only about 20 percent of 17-24 year olds (the normal age range in which to join the military) are actually qualified to join. It isn't a job that just "anyone could get with what passes as a high school education."

I don't kiss ass, but I salute our soldiers. When I see them when I'm out and about I'll shake their hand and say thank you for your service.

Cops on the other hand.... well LOL I'm a mod at eyeonblue.com and I see too much BS. My mom tells me there is good and bad in all professions, but I have reservations about cops. Sorry MartyMcfly. LOL

I didn't mean that anyone can do it or do it immediately, but that anyone that set out to do so has a pretty good shot compared to a lot of other jobs with more technical requirements. I don't doubt a lot of people couldn't qualify off the bat, but I don't think someone working towards joining is going to find it impossible, like if they were trying to be a doctor or something of that nature. I didn't consider medically-excluded/criminal record exclusions though; I don't know what those restrictions are so they might exclude a lot of people too.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that there aren't bad cops out there. There are, just as there are bad IT people, bad doctors, bad teachers, etc. Bad cops however make the news headlines more often than the others so that's how people assume those in the profession are.

Having reservations is fine as long as you aren't immediately treating the LEO you are interacting with like an asshole because you think he's one as well. Some of us ARE good guys who view this line of work as a means to put a roof over our family's head and help some people/try to do some good in the process. That's all I'm trying to convey.

lol fail. yea everybody who graduates HS can be a nuke tech on a sub or a crew chief on a F22.

Yea dude, because clearly I was talking about everyone applying to the military being immediately qualified for highly technical / experienced positions

Everyone knows the military has no regular grunts, mechanics, etc. Only people that operate nuclear subs, perform complex programming, and fight like Bruce Lee.
