Why do we keep losing STARCRAFT games, even though we've been playing for 8 years!?

My friend and I have been playing Starcraft for about 8 years. We're both college grads and hold professional degrees (i.e. we're not retarded), yet our win:loss ratio on battle.net is consistently 1:3. Can someone please explain? Thank you. Much appreciated.

There are lots of little kiddie map hackers out there. And what map do you play? Fastest map possible? Or a regular map?

Because you have lives other than Starcraft. Most starcraft players are Koreans who DON'T.

That's your problem. If you want to win ladder matches in Starcraft you have to have the reflexes of a ten year old and the intelligence of a two year old. Play Alpha Centauri instead.

Ouch. I don't know how that translates into having no life.

Just different hobbies and interests by culture. Americans LOVE sports. Asians don't play sports as much as a nation. But they're sure as hell more artistic.

How is playing/watching sports with friends any less of a life than playing/watching starcraft games/televised channels in Korea?

Pretty much. You have a life. I imagine you would kick their asses at other things.

Also, I feel like the better players know every last keyboard shortcut cold and barely touch the mouse....thaty may help you some.

you guys act like there are no american losers that play starcraft all day. there are plenty of american kiddies that spend all day playing starcraft. that's the reason i never play counterstrike or starcraft or games of this sort with people on public servers. You need to play constantly to keep improving your skill. Take a week or month off, and everyone that was your level can now dominate you.

I'm all for skill-less games like everquest and WoW

I haven't played in some time as I cannot find both of my discs. Last time I logged into my B.Net account my record was something like 1200+ Wins/300+ Losses/100+ Disconnects.

sometimes its just the game that doesn't fit you very well perhaps,
not like u are earning a living with it,

like wise i've been on warcraft 3 for a decent amount of time,
and winning ratio is still 50%
its like a point where its stagnent, u know thats about the best u can go after sometime..

and always remember there is bound to be alot of people better then u
yet at the same time, those who do worst then you =)

this is true...my record is abotu 1:1 ration (played thousands of matches), but i know many people with legit records of 4:1, or 3:1. however, if you leave the gaem for a while and come back, you'll notice that strats evolve. even if it's only for a month or two - the nature of the game cahnges, even though starcraft has been out forever. you have to constatnly play to keep up.
