Why do we have hair?

Hehe, good one Czar.

I believe one should get a back, crack and sack wax at least once every three months. ;)

Well since I always get a one and a half, I wouldn't know. But I read in some scientific publication somewhere that man will eventually evolve into a hairless being. That is if we don't exterminate ourselves first that is.

Would a person looking like a hairless chihaua [can't spell] look better than someone with hair?

A large percent of body heat is lost through the top of our head. Hair helps keep some of that in. The tiny hairs on our arms, etc, also help regulate body heat. The hair under our arms serves as a conduit for sweat to escape, thus keeping us cool.

You could also look at it from an evolutionary perspective. If we evolved from apes, we haven't yet lost all that hair.

Actually it is sortof like a heatsink for our brain, it is to even the temperture on the brain. Heat changes are NOT good for the brain.

I think, bleeeeh

Sometimes yes. I have seen a couple of bald chicks that I want to bone until my winky goes numb.

yes - hair is actually the temperature regulartor, or if you prefer, heatsink for the brain.

the pores at the base of our hair can open and close to release to contain heat.

We've as much hair as a gorilla has, only most of it is in the form of tiny, nearly transparant hair. Like said earlier, we should look at this from an evolutionary perspective if we want to understand this.

We used clothing to cover our body and were always creative in finding/building shelters. Some other factors have probably played a role as well (e.g. attractiveness).

The result is that we've only four spots of 'fur' left (head, armpits and 'down there' ;) ). I doubt that this hair will 'devolve' soon, and neither will the hair on the rest of our bodies. Even those tiny hairs on your arms and legs play a role in keeping us warm (keeping body-heat from dissipating by keeping a layer of air around the body).

<< If I shaved my body I'd lose 15 pounds off my body weight. >>

damn, wolfman

This is my hair chronology:

Age 10: Hairy legs/arms

Age 12: Hairy ass

Age 13: Hairy chest

Age 14: Hairy face

Age 15: Hairy feet

Age 16: Receding hairline

age 19: Hairy back

Age 20: Ingrown neck hairs

Damn, if I didn't wear bright colored clothing out in the woods I would be mistaken for a Sasquatch.

The hair on the head prevents sunburn in summmer (if u don't wear a hat), and in winter it helps to keep you warm.
As to the hair on males in that other place, I have no idea what it's there for.

The hair in the privates is for lubrication. Seriously, try bumping uglies with two shaved people (not that I've tried it!) and think about the skin rubbing against skin for an hour or so.
