Like the way the saved our asses during our Revolutionary War with the Brits?

Come on, I think we all know it was the Polish who saved us in the American Revolutoin. Lafayette my ass, how about Thaddeus Kosciuszko and Casimir Pulaski?

Simple: We mockingly hate them because they generally hate us and act all aloof and superior . My brother joined the Navy in the late '80s and was on a 6-month tour on an aircraft carrier when they stopped in France for shore leave. He said that they had to come off the ramp and walk down an alley when getting off the carrier and all the people living above were spitting and throwing trash down at them. :(

They hadn't even had the chance to poorly represent America or offend the French yet.

Yep, that's real sissy of them to stand up to their government. The manly men in the US wouldn't know anything about that.

And 62 isn't the full retirement age there. You only get partial benefits. You know, just like in the United States.

So when Americans by the thousands take to the streets to peacefully voice their opinions on government spending, fiscal responsibility, and constitutional governance they don't know anything about "standing up to their government" despite their following the Constitutional requirement "peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances"? Notice the bolded words, they are important or are you contending that only when you are causing violence and mayhem and destroying private property are you "standing up" to government?

That sounds like a bunch of crap from top to bottom.

I am not entirely sure. But it may have something to do with the French needing us in two World Wars and then ditching NATO when we were trying to form a strong coalition aginst communist expansion in Europe?

I would say this was a big part of it. I can't find the exact quote or reference here but: During the nato withdrawal from France, some frog made a comment that they wanted all U.S. soldiers out of France by some certain date. Someone on the U.S. side remarked "including the ones in the cemeteries?"

Then their govt went sort of socialist, then they wouldn't allow the flyover, etc.

Really? We were just there at the end of 2009 and were actually shocked at how nice everyone in Paris was.

I was there in 93, nothing but bad experiences with the people in Paris. Except for the night several of us went to the Lizard King's grave.

Honestly, of all the places I visited in Europe it was my least favorite.

The city was beautiful but definately the rudest place I visited during my 5 week trek across Europe in 2001. *shrug* Maybe it's changed

Many Americans are entitled jerks who think the rest of the world is all backwater despite the majority of americans never having gone anywhere.

Ugh - sadly this is true. I encountered more than a couple of snobby American tourists while in Europe. I remember one shop I was in in France (Nimes I believe)- an American tourist (who found out I was another American) kept going on and on about how the people working there should learn better English.

I loved France when I visited a few years back. South of France especially.
The OP's title should be 'Why do Republicans hate the french?' instead.

What sounds untrue about it? They were probably used to US soldiers at that particular port and acted that way regularly. It's no secret that most of the general population in European countries has a negative image of Americans or the USA, even if it's just the "stupid American" stereotype. FWIW, they weren't throwing rocks and vases or "attacking" in any way. By "stuff" I meant "general garbage." Like the organic contents of their kitchen trash.

What fucking douchetards thought up that?

According to the link you quoted Robert W. Ney (R-Ohio) and Walter B. Jones, Jr. (R-North Carolina) and quite a few random restaurant owners including the folks that run Knotts Berry Farm.

Its not just America, everyone hates the French. The Brits hate the French even more than we do.

Its because they're smug, arrogant bastards and think they're better than everyone else.

Quite simple really.

Honestly, looking at the whole of French history, I'd say I hate the french - because they are worthy of it.

Any of you fucking frenchies wanna grab a beer and swap BS stories about how awesome our countries are? First round's on me. :D

most french people i've encountered while vacationing in the caribbean were absolute pricks who would cut in line, expect the world and then not tip. they also tried to maintain their colonies after ww2 which fucked over vietnam. other than that, i think their culture and food is pretty cool and dont' really get why every one blindly hates them either

Funny thing is that my theory is that the friction between the US and France is due to our similarities rather than our differences. We both think we are the greatest countries on the face of the planet and that the entire world should speak our languages just to name a couple. ;)

No the friction is because they think their country is the greatest on the face of the planet. It bothers us because we know they are wrong - ours is! :D

First we hated the natives. Then we hated our own. Then we hated the mexicans. Then we hated the chinese. Then we hated the blacks. Then the blacks hated everyone. The hate hit the French when they shoved us into vietnam then walked away. And when they did it again with the middle east the hate got worse.
