Why do USPS / CanadaPost suck so much?

So, I've been expecting a delivery for a while now, and I am wondering why, oh why, didn't I choose to have this delivered by courier. I've unfortunately chosen USPS/CanadaPost, and the result seems to be that my package is being delivered on foot.

This parcel was picked up by USPS on the 1st of April in Sheffield Lake, just west of Cleveland, OH. It has been on its way to Montreal, CA, for 15 days now. Note in total this is a ~ 9 hours drive. I would have expected a few days more for customs, but not half a month. Still, I think I might invest in a time machine, as CanadaPost says my parcel will be delievered 5 days ago :sneaky::

According to Google map, the distance would take roughly 8 days to walk.

USPS is on my bad list right now. Been fighting with them for over a month just to receive my mail. They can't seem to figure out how to deliver mail to a PO Box that's located right inside their building. They don't realize how utterly incompetent they are, and yet they wonder why their business is going down the drain.

yet here i love usps. Well wouldnt say love but i do use them often. Flat rate boxes and get it across the country in 2-3 days is perfect. Hell if i ship by 5pm i can get it delivered next day in my state.

Plus shipping up to 70 pounds for 12 bucks is a sweet deal compared to UPS/Fedex

I still much prefer USPS for most things.
Always use Priority Mail, never takes more than 2-3 days (unless it's ~Christmas!).
Back in my FS/FT days, we had to use USPS to Canada as when you tried to ship UPS/ FedEx, you would usually get your item caught in Customs, delaying it until the Canadian buyer paid (Through the nose) a "Duty Fee"!

My experience is that customs can take up to a month for packages. Letters only a couple extra days. Personally I'd rather wait it out than pay the $50 brokerage fee ups/FedEx charge for basic service (even on a $10 item).

USPS is fine. Canadian Customs on the other hand is evidently trying to slow down the exchange of goods as much as humanly possible.
