Why do things change on their own with my gaming PC?

So now, EVGA Precision OSD doesn't run in DOOM.

Two days ago it was working, nothing change on my system. Now since yesterday I can't run the OSD while playing DOOM.

No configuration changes, no downloads, nothing inserted into the PC. Why does this happen?

Automatic updates.

Technically, starting and stopping Doom can change the system. Happens to me all the time.
