I've never been asked for Registration. Is that really a thing? Every state I have been in you put a sticker on your license plate.

Same here; although you are required to carry it, and I always do, I've never actually been asked to produce it.

Unfortunately the minute you stop carrying it, you'll most certainly be asked for it.

That part is definitely the law of the universe.

Why did they say "I'm being audited for my return from 5 years ago" on the new Odd Couple, when the IRS statue of limitations is 3 years unless they can prove fraud or they have proof of material understatement of income? Because writers and directors are idiots and make up stuff all the time.

I've only been asked for a license and registration. And the cop rarely even gets a chance to ask because I know he didn't pull me over to ask me how my day was.

The police don't have the budget to show up at every accident so making sure you have registration and proof of insurance papers helps anybody you may get into an accident with who will want to see those.
Years ago in Texas people started forging the registration stickers on their license plates so their reg. stickers are now large decals in the drivers side of the windshield.

That piece of paper that comes with the sticker is the registration and it should show who the vehicle is registered to address etc...

I have never seen a state that doesn't have a registration for a motor vehicle.

In most states insurance information is printed on the registration.

that is not always satisfactory though. in NC, i have been able to get away with that.

when i was in kansas, thats what i was used to, so i never put the paper slip in my car. i got a ticket for it. even though i had insurance, i was ticketed for not having proof of insurance with me. what an asinine state. the SHP there pretty much just exists to ticket people for revenue, so far as i could tell at the time.

i've never once had to show my insurance card when being pulled over in both MD and VA. so yeah, you don't need to show insurance in all states.

and insurance is mandatory here.

I'm in TX and never had a cop ask for registration, just license and proof of insurance. However, since we have a registration sticker on our windshield, that is probably why they don't ask for papers. If they did, I'd be screwed b/c I don't know what the actual papers look like.
