You bastid. I need to stay at work until about 9 every weekday, and probably at least one weekend until the 17th (when I leave for vacation) since the main girl left for for Honduras for a month and I have seniority. Oh well, I'm expecting a huge bonus for Christmas.

I wish to hell I didn't have anything to do at work (which is also my home :)) all day. I could go back to school, read countless books, learn countless things, etc. When I used to do software development as a cubicle monkey I would spend all of that free time reading, working on personal software projects, taking online classes, etc.

Use it to your advantage! At some point it's likely they'll realize you're nothing but overhead, so you might as well try to advance yourself!

It's all about the "face time", where actual work takes a back seat to the mere appearance of productivity. Haven't you learned anything about office politics yet?
